- Led discovery and requirements definition for Scotland's new EPC services, translating policy and user needs into Figma prototypes and delivery requirements.
- Created a multi-year delivery roadmap with milestones and dependencies, giving senior stakeholders clear visibility of delivery and product lifecycle.
- Designed and built two frontend services covering public-facing journeys and internal operational tooling.
- Created a reusable Scottish Government frontend foundation, integrating the Design System, unit/accessibility testing and Docker deployment patterns.
- Mentored engineers on frontend, accessibility and delivery best practices, strengthening technical standards across the team.

- Company-wide frontend lead and sole dedicated frontend engineer, owning architecture, UI/UX, Figma prototyping and implementation across commercial and public-sector AI projects.
- Led frontend delivery for geospatial insurance, data/entity analysis and UK defence programmes, translating complex AI models into clear, explainable user interfaces.
- Led the move from Bootstrap to Material UI, establishing a branded component library and consistent frontend approach across the organisation.
- Co-developed a reusable React/TypeScript project foundation with the Principal Engineer, incorporating shared components, engineering best practices and deployment configuration.

- Established and led frontend engineering for an internal GDPR incident-management platform, owning React/TypeScript delivery, UI design and accessibility.
- Built an RBS-branded Bootstrap component library, creating reusable UI patterns and driving the product to AA accessibility standards.
- Built and led a six-person frontend capability, retraining backend engineers into frontend/full-stack roles, conducting code reviews and supporting recruitment.

The demo everywhere else on the internet shows the finished screen. This is the process behind it, showing end-to-end product engineering and design, solo, from discovery through to a live build.

EmpathiseTalk to gym-goers
Talked to regular gym-goers and found people tracking workouts on pen and paper, unable to see body composition changes over time, and losing motivation without visible progress.
- Step 2
DefineWants into features
Turned those conversations into a concrete feature set: exercise logging with visual progress, body measurement tracking, progress photos, and custom workouts.

IdeatePrioritise
Mapped candidate features against effort and impact to sequence an MVP, prioritising logging and progress visualisation before lower-value extras.
- Step 4
DesignPrototype
Designed and prototyped the core flows in Figma, iterating on layout and interaction with real feedback before writing any code.

BuildDemo & reiterate
Built the experience in Next.js on AWS Amplify with MUI, shipped it for gym-goers to try, and iterated on what broke, felt slow, or was asked for next.
Gym Progress

Problem: Talking directly to regular gym-goers surfaced a consistent pattern: workouts tracked on pen and paper, no visibility into body composition change over time, and motivation that faded without visible proof of progress.
Solution: Took those conversations straight into requirements, prioritisation and design, then built and shipped:
- Exercise tracking & progress graphsLogs weight, sets/reps and cardio distance, then visualises it as coloured graphs over time.
- Body measurement trackingBody fat and muscle percentage tracked over time, so users can see composition change, not just weight.
- Progress photosSide-by-side photos over time, because day-to-day change is hard to notice but the trend isn't.
- Custom workout builderComing soonUsers have asked to build their own workouts, so it's coming soon.
Impact: Demonstrates full-cycle product leadership, spanning user research, requirements and prioritisation, UX and Figma prototyping, and hands-on frontend engineering, taken solo from gym-floor conversations to a live, still-iterating product.
